Keyboard friendly tree views

It is quite standard in IDE's nowadays that tree view controls are keyboard friendly. If you have drilled down to a child node which is not expanded, the left key should jump to the parent node. If you again press the left key, and the selected node is an expanded parent, it should collapse. Likewise, the right arrow should expand the node.

Hi guys, thanks for looking at this. Just a shame that the left arrow does not jump to parents in the tree views. When I'm navigating big trees, I need to do a lot of scrolling back to parent items to collapse them. Normally if your on a leaf item, or on a tree item that is already collapsed, and you press left, you will jump to the parent node.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the quick response. I had a look and the Connection Tree works 100%. Much better.

Unfortunately - there may still be a few treeviews which don't do this. One that I can immediately see is the data result view. When it is switched to tree view mode (ctrl-1), this tree view does not function as nicely with the keyboard as the connection tree view.

Regards

Same here. Cannot collapse or move to parent node.

Thanks for reporting this. We checked on the latest version and can confirm the issue: the left arrow key no longer jumps to the parent node in the tree view.

Good news - this is fixed, and we have just published a new beta build (11.1.8-beta.4) with the fix:

Windows installer:
https://s3.nosqlbooster.com/download/releasesv11/nosqlbooster4mongo-11.1.8-beta.4-x64.exe

Windows portable zip:
https://s3.nosqlbooster.com/download/releasesv11/nosqlbooster4mongo-11.1.8-beta.4-x64-portable.zip

This beta is a preview of the upcoming 11.1.8 release. If you have a moment to try it: pressing left on a leaf or collapsed node jumps to its parent, while expanded nodes still collapse on the first press.

Thanks for helping us keep these tree views keyboard-friendly.

A quick update: the fix from the beta build is now part of our official 11.2.0 release (the beta was a preview of it). If you would like to upgrade from the beta to the final version, you can download it here:

Thanks again for reporting this - and for helping us keep the tree views keyboard-friendly.
